Privacy policy

BakerXLabs is a division of RAK Venture Group, based in Lac Baker, New Brunswick, Canada. This policy explains what personal information this website touches, why, and what your rights are. It is written to comply with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Questions or requests: ross@bakerxlabs.com.

What we collect, and why

• Project enquiries. The contact form asks for your name, email, project type, and a project description. Submissions are delivered straight to our business inbox through a secure form endpoint, and we use them solely to respond to you and scope your project. If the endpoint is ever unavailable, the form falls back to opening your own email app instead.
• Availability and traffic. We monitor this site's availability and collect aggregate traffic statistics. Our analytics don't use cookies and don't track you across other sites. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for a limited period to keep the site running and secure.
• Spam and abuse controls. When you submit the form, our form endpoint reads the IP address your request arrives from, so that one address cannot flood us with submissions. It is used only to limit the rate of submissions. It is not attached to your enquiry and not used to identify you, profile you, or market to you. We do not keep it as a business record: it lives in the endpoint's short-term memory for the rate limit, and in our host's ordinary server logs, which we do not use for anything else. The form also carries one hidden field that only automated spam tools fill in. It collects nothing about you, and if it arrives filled in we discard the submission.

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for marketing or with anyone beyond the service providers described below, who handle it only to deliver their service to us. We do not run marketing lists, and we will not send you promotional email.

Where your information lives

The public pages of this website set no cookies. Form submissions are relayed to our business email and are not stored on the site; we keep the resulting email in our business inbox for as long as we need it to answer you and to run the project it relates to, and we delete it on request. A copy also passes through our email provider, which keeps its own send records for a limited time on systems outside Canada. The Stack game keeps a single sound on/off preference in your own browser's localStorage on your device; it is not personal information and holds nothing about you. You can clear it anytime through your browser settings.

Signed-in areas

Client portals on this site use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and your session secure. These are not used for analytics or advertising.

Third parties

Form submissions are delivered through a transactional email service, and this site runs on a managed hosting platform; both handle that data only to deliver their service to us, under contract. One JavaScript library loads from a public content delivery network. Like any web resource, these requests expose your IP address to the service operator. Some of these providers operate outside Canada, so your information may be stored or processed outside Canada and, while it is there, may be accessible to the courts and to law-enforcement or national security authorities of that country. This site runs no advertising trackers and no social media pixels; the availability and traffic monitoring described above does not use cookies and does not track you across other sites.

How we protect it

Enquiries travel to us over an encrypted connection and land in a business inbox protected by a strong, unique password and two-step sign-in. We keep what you send only as long as we need it. No system is perfect and we do not claim ours is; if something goes wrong that affects you, we will tell you.

Your rights

Under PIPEDA you may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, and you may withdraw consent to our use of it. Email ross@bakerxlabs.com and we will respond promptly. If you are not satisfied, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. We have designated someone accountable for personal information at BakerXLabs; email us and we will tell you who.

By using this website you accept these terms.

• Ownership. All content on this site, including text, design, graphics, logos, and code, is the property of RAK Venture Group. You may not copy, reproduce, or reuse it without written permission.
• No advice, no warranty. This site is provided as is, for general information about our services. We make reasonable efforts to keep it accurate but do not warrant that it is error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for any particular purpose. Descriptions of services are invitations to enquire, not binding offers; every engagement is defined by its own written quote and agreement. The Stack is a game, provided for entertainment. Nothing in it, including anything shown on its end screens, is advice, a service, or a promise about your project.
• Limitation of liability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, RAK Venture Group is not liable for any damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, this website.
• Changes. We may change, suspend, or remove any part of this site, including the game, at any time without notice. Where this section conflicts with section 03, that section governs its own subject matter.
• Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of New Brunswick and the federal laws of Canada applicable there. Any dispute belongs to the courts of New Brunswick.

Care and engagements

Care is the monthly service for work we host and run after launch. On a website build it is optional: take it, or take the build and host it yourself. An AI system is delivered in a portal we operate, so running it is part of that engagement. What follows is the shape of it. The terms that bind are the ones in your written agreement.

• How it is priced. Care is quoted with your build and priced to your project. There is no price list and no tier. You get one monthly figure in writing before you commit to anything, and it does not change during a billing month.
• Month to month. Care is billed monthly and continues month to month. Either of us may end it with 30 days' written notice, taking effect at the end of the next full billing month. Fees already paid for a month in progress are not refunded.
• Price changes. If we change your monthly Care fee, we tell you in writing at least 30 days before it takes effect. If the new figure does not work for you, you may end Care on notice before it starts.
• What Care is. Hosting we manage, monitoring, platform and security updates as they come up, a monthly allowance of content changes set out in your agreement, and a monthly report. We do not guarantee that a site will never go down, that a third-party host or platform will perform, or that any particular response time will be met, unless your written agreement says so in those words.
• What happens when Care ends. You own the work, and ending Care does not change that. It does mean we stop hosting, monitoring, updating, and securing the work that was under Care. How you take it from there, including any help you want moving it, is set out in your written agreement.
• The agreement governs. Nothing on this website is a Care contract or a service level agreement. Every engagement is defined by its own written quote and agreement, and where that agreement differs from this page, the agreement governs.
